6th Convention on Advances
and Applications of GiD
Barcelona, 10 and 11 May 2012

www.gidhome.com/2012

WHAT IS GiD?
GiD is a universal, adaptive and user-friendly graphical user inter-
face for geometrical modelling, meshing, data input and visuali-
sation of results for all types of numerical simulation programs.
GiD can easily generate all the information required for the analy-
sis of any problem in science and engineering using numerical
methods (structured and unstructured meshes, boundary and
loading conditions, material types, visualisation of results etc.),
and has advanced visualization tools for representing the results.
Information of GiD can be found at www.gidhome.com.

6TH GiD CONVENTION ON ADVANCES
AND APPLICATIONS OF GiD
The objective of this sixth edition of the GiD Convention is to
bring together users and developers of the GiD pre/post pro-
cessing system in order to exchange ideas and experience on
the generation of data for computer simulation and the graphic
visualization of numerical results. Furthermore, the 11th version
of GiD will be released in the frame of the GiD Convention, and
the new features of the new version will be presented.
The meeting is organized in two parts: the first day dedicated to
courses on GiD v11 and some simulation codes linked with GiD,
and the second day where a workshop will be held.

CONVENTION COURSES (MAY 10th)
WORKSHOP (MAY 11th)
The morning will be dedicated to a GiD introductory Course (4
hours), and in the afternoon simultaneous courses will be given
on GiD advanced features (advanced customization of GiD, key
parameters when importing models from other CADs, meshing
complex models and postprocess huge results) and application
modules in several engineering fields (DEMpack – discrete ele-
ments, Kratos – multiphisics, Tdyn – computational fluids dyna-
mics, IBER – hidrology, and others).
The workshop will consist on presentations on advanced topics
related with pre and post processing such as: new meshing al-
gorithms, CAD geometry creation and edition tools or advan-
ced visualization features. The new features of version 11 of GiD
will be presented, and a final round table will allow an interacti-
ve discussion on pre and post processing topics.

COURSES FEES

The courses fee is 120 euros, including:
›› All the courses (morning and afternoon)
›› One year licence of professional version of GiD v11.
›› Coffee breaks and lunch
The participants of the course must register in the website
congress.cimne.upc.es/gid12 before April 1st.

LOCATION
The convention will take place at the intallations of CIMNE Bar-
celona, Spain, located on North Campus of the Technical Uni-
versity of Catalonia (UPC). The presentations will be held on the
O. C. Zienkiewicz auditorium.
