First Announcement and Call for Abstracts – Deadline is 15 November 2012

Dear Colleagues,



The Federal University of Ouro Preto (UFOP) and The Federal University of
Juiz de Fora (UFJF) have the pleasure to announce the fifth edition of the
International Conference of Experimental Vibration Analysis for Civil
Engineering Structures 2013.



After four successful previous editions in 2005 at Bordeaux (France); in
2007 at Porto (Portugal); in 2009 at Wroclaw (Poland) and in 2011 at
Varenna (Italy), EVACES 2013 will be held at the UNESCO world heritage city
of Ouro Preto, Brazil from *28-30 October 2013* (see www.ufjf.br/evaces2013/
).



Surrounded by mountains and displaying a view at the same time beautiful
and mysterious, Ouro Preto shows itself as a city that gathers past and
present with its large baroque houses built with enormous stones that are
also found in the streets. Ouro Preto, with its steep and twisting streets
and its houses in colonial style, was considered a Historic Site by UNESCO
and attracts millions of people every year. Ouro Preto is well known for
its preservation of customs and tradition, what makes the city a place of
art and magic. It´s 300 years of historic and cultural wealth (see
www.ouropreto.org.br/indexingl.asp).



The conference is intended for structural engineers, researchers and
associated professionals interested in the latest achievements and
developments in research, instrumentation, monitoring, signal processing,
structural integrity and vibration migration.



EVACES 2013 will be held at the Parque Metalúrgico – Convention and
Performing Arts Center of the Federal University of Ouro Preto, in the city
of Ouro Preto, Minas Gerais State, Brazil (www.parquemetalurgico.com.br).

All major aspects of experimental vibration analysis will be addressed
during the conference. Representative subject areas are given below, but
are not exhaustive:

   1. Vibration measurement (transducers, techniques…)
   2. Sources of excitation (testing machines, traffic loads, ambient
   excitation)
   3. Concepts in vibration data analysis (modal analysis, wavelets, non
   linear, non stationary processes, stochastic methods)
   4. Vibration measurement in large structures
   5. Vibration isolation and mitigation (passive damping, semi-active and
   active control)
   6. System identification and model updating
   7. Structural integrity assessment
   8. Structural monitoring
   9. Wave propagation
   10. Methodologies and standards
   11. Effects of shock and vibration on humans and facilities
   12. In-situ and laboratory experiments, benchmarks
   13. Earthquake engineering tests
   14. Dynamic testing of historical constructions
   15. Dynamics of railway bridges
