Dear Professor Sonzogni
I am delighted to inform you that Dr X.F. Xu has been awarded the
2010 K.J. Bathe Award for the Best Paper by a Young Researcher in the
field of Computational Engineering, published in Computers &
Structures.His paper "A Green-Function-Based Multiscale Method for
Uncertainty Quantification of Finite Body Random Heterogeneous
Materials", X.F. Xu, X. Chen, L. Shen, was published in Computers &
Structures, 87, 1416-1426, 2009. Dr Xu is an Assistant Professor in
the Department of Civil, Environmental and Ocean Engineering at
Stevens Institute of Technology, Hoboken NJ, USA. The standard of the
papers considered for the award was particularly high in 2010 with 34
candidates eligible for the 2010 award. The award was judged by an
international panel of 31 academics and researchers.
Applicants who wish to be considered for the K.J. Bathe Award in 2012
should submit their paper to Computers & Structures for publication
in the years 2010 or 2011 and they must be under the age of 40 on
