<span style="margin:0px;border:0px none;font-size:11pt;line-height:normal">El crecimiento continuo en las capacidades de cálculo de las computadoras exige la adaptación de la forma de trabajo para poder aprovechar en forma óptima los recursos computacionales.
Desde 2005, el único argumento que ha incrementado la velocidad de procesamiento en las computadoras ha sido el cálculo en paralelo, ya sea paralelismo de instrucciones, de datos, de hilos o de nodos. La complejidad de las computadoras actuales que involucran
estas cuatro formas de paralelismo, requieren que la programación aproveche eficientemente estos miles de millones de transistores para obtener buen desempeño, eficiencia y escalabilidad. Esto lleva también a proponer optimizaciones a programas en uso, así
como nuevos algoritmos y estructuras de datos para los problemas en mecánica y multifísica computacional. Esta sesión intenta brindar un foro para quienes trabajan en la resolución de problemas de mecánica y multifísica computacional en procesadores tradicionales
(CPU) o aceleradores (GPU/MIC), aprovechando todas sus dimensiones del paralelismo, así como en clusters de nodos de estos procesadores.</span></p>
