Dear Colleague

On behalf of the International Scientific Advisory Committee (ISAC), we are
pleased to inform you of the Fourth International Conference on Fluid
Structure Interaction (Incorporating the Free and Moving Boundary Problems
Seminar). The meeting will take place from 14 - 16 May 2007 at Ashurst
Lodge, UK.

Conference papers will be reviewed by members of the ISAC and other
colleagues, and if selected, will be published in hard book form by WIT
Press and will be available to delegates at the time of registration. In
addition, the proceedings will be widely distributed after the conference
through the international book trade and by direct announcement to readers
and librarians. All papers will be permanently archived in the Transactions
of the Wessex Institute on our eLibrary site, which is available to the

FLUID STRUCTURE INTERACTION 2007
==================================

INTRODUCTION
=============================================================

Fluid Structure Interaction 2007 is the fourth conference in this successful
series, which provides a forum for the presentation of new ideas and the
latest work in the specialised field of fluid structure interaction. The
principal aim of this conference is to promote the international exchange of
information and knowledge on fluid structure interaction problems, giving
experts from different application fields the opportunity to interact with
one another and to provide valuable cross breeding of ideas and techniques.

The conference will encompass a wide range of topics within this area
ranging from different types of fluids, such as, wind, current, biofluids
and ocean waves to different types of structures, such as, tall buildings,
ocean structures, cables, towers, bridges, risers and biological structures.
New research for the advancement of interaction problems will be the main
focus of the conference. Papers with new applications to real world problems
will be particularly welcome. The basic mathematical formulati
Special sessions at the Conference will deal with problems where the
position of the borders or interphase boundaries have to be determined as
part of the solution. The transient cases lead to the so-called moving
boundary problems, and the steady state case to the free boundary problems.
The sessions will also discuss the special numerical methods applied to
these studies such as finite differences, finite elements, finite volumes,
boundary elements and other mesh reduction techniques.

Papers are sought in the following areas: advanced analytical techniques,
computer and experimental modelling, new application and verification of
interaction techniques in design, and unique and successful field
applications of the design tools.

The conference first started in Halkidiki, Greece in 2001, followed by one
in Cadiz, Spain in 2003, and the last meeting was held in La Coruña, Spain,
in 2005.

PUBLICATION OF PAPERS
=============================================================
Papers presented at Fluid Structure Interaction 2007 will be published by
WIT Press in a volume of WIT Transactions on the Built Environment (ISSN
1743-3509). In addition to being available to delegates at the time of
registration, the hardcover volume will be publicised directly to
researchers and institutional libraries and distributed widely through the
international book trade.

The papers will also be archived online in the Transactions of the Wessex
Institute Collection (library.witpress.com). The Collection provides the
international scientific community with immediate and permanent access to
individual papers presented at WIT conferences. WIT Press is committed to
offering authors the option to make their work freely accessible to
colleagues through their Open-Access service.

Coverage of WIT proceedings appears regularly in notable publications and
databases, including Applied Mechanics Reviews (AMR), Cambridge Scientific
Abstracts, Ei Compendex, INSPEC, Thomson Scientific, Scitech Book News as
well as the Directory of Published Proceedings.
